Chinese New Year is just around the corner! There are a tone of Chinese New Year traditions that will come into play as we welcome the Year of the Tiger, but this use of WeChat for the CNY well-wishing is unavaoidable. It can be a little confusing what is appropriate to send on WeChat, however.

新年好 (Xīnnián hǎo) Happy New Year
春节快乐 (Chūnjié kuàilè) Happy Chinese New Year
过年好 (Guònián hǎo) Happy Chinese New Year
恭喜发财 (Gōngxǐ fācái) lit. "congratulations and be prosperous"
给您拜年了 (gěi nín bàinián le) happy Chinese New Year wishes to you
心想事成 (xīn xiǎng shì chéng) may your heart's desire come true
万事如意 (wànshì rúyì) may all your wishes be fulfilled
These are some of the simpler and more common Chinese New Year wishes. If you are a Chinese language learner, these words and phrases above are safe to use.
